Inter-parliamentary union holds meeting in marrakesh in march

The Inter-Parliamentary union (IPU) will hold its 107th session in Marrakesh next March 17 through 23, with the participation of some 1,500 parliamentarians from 142 countries.
The session will debate the role of parliaments in defining public policies in this era of globalization and multilateral institutions, the backing to be extended to parliamentary action and the Kyoto protocol on climate changes. The session will equally discuss child labor, women's participation in political life, the situation of refugees throughout the world and international and regional conflicts.
The session will be preceded by the meetings of the IPU executive committee and the IPU council March 14-16, a statement by the House of Representatives (lower chamber of the Moroccan parliament) said.
On the sidelines of the session, international and regional meetings will be held, such as the meeting of women mps, the meeting of secretary generals of parliaments and the forum on security and cooperation in the Mediterranean.
