Israel, Economics, 2/27/2002
The escalated Palestinian Intifada against the Israeli occupation resulted in heavy loses to the communication sector that exceeded 2.2 billion Israeli Shekels in this sector until the end of January, 2002.
The Israeli radio quoted statements by the Israeli ministry of communications as saying that the sector of aviation has also suffered among other land and air transportation areas and direct losses were inflicted estimated at 1.156 billion Shekels, in particular as a result of the strong reduction in the incoming tourism to Israel through air flights.
Meantime, a report prepared by experts at the International Monetary Fund, currently visiting Israel said that the Israeli economy is suffering a state of slow growth as a result of recession on various Israeli industrial activities following the deterioration of conditions and the escalation of the Intifada against the Israeli occupation.
