Seven Palestinians wounded, new incursion for Israeli forces in Gaza

Seven Palestinians were wounded during the confrontation with the Israeli forces which on Tuesday continued its aggression and incurred in Deir al-Balah area in Gaza and arrested several Palestinian youths.

Meantime the Israeli officials, foremost being the prime minister Ariel Sharon continued their threats to intensify military attacks against the Palestinian areas giving no notice to international criticism.

The Israeli forces, on the other hand, continue working to isolate the city of Jerusalem. The chairman of Jerusalem's municipality Ehud Olmert said that his municipality decided to install a high fortified wall that separates Jerusalem from adjoining and neighboring Palestinian suburbs.

He, in this respect, indicated that Israeli organizations inside and outside Israel are financing the founding of this wall which is considered part of a wider project aims at totally isolating the city from its Palestinian surrounding.

In the political framework, the UN envoy to the Middle East Terry Larsen said that an Israeli- Palestinian security meeting will be made in the context of easing down conditions in the Palestinian areas.

The Israeli radio quoted Larsen as saying in conclusion of his meeting on Tuesday in Ramullah with the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat that discussions during the meeting dealt with current conditions in the Palestinian territories.

Arafat announced he gave instructions to resume security meetings with the Israeli side as from Tuesday and that was in response to the call made by the EU foreign higher policy representative Javier Solana during their meeting on Sunday. Arafat said that he had discussed with Solana the debated initiatives in order to safeguard the negotiations.

On the other hand, the Israeli forces arrested two Palestinians on Tuesday as their tanks were incurring for one kilometer in lands that fall under the complete Palestinian control in Wadi al-Salqa village near Deir al-Balah in Gaza.

The chairman of the village Youssef Abu al-Ajeen said that three Israeli tanks incurred for more than one kilometer in the lands of the Palestinian citizens in Wadi al-Salqa village.

Abu al-Ajeen added that the Israeli army arrested the two Palestinians Ateyah Abu Daher ( 45 ) year old ( cattle trader ) and another from al-Naa'ami family while passing in the village.

Moreover, three Palestinians were wounded in Tel al-Sultan area to the west of Rafah as a result of the Israeli artillery bombardment.

The Israeli radio said that the Israeli army arrested four Palestinian under the charges of carrying out acts against their forces.

An Israeli military sources announced that more Israeli soldiers were deployed in the cities of Bethlehem and Hebron and the military siege was tightened on the Palestinians in these areas especially in Hebron.

In retaliation to the Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian civilians, an Israeli military force was exposed to fire from Balata camp near Nablus when Palestinians opened fire at a group of Israeli soldiers in Hebron, while explosives were detonated in the same area near a coach for the settlement council in the area.

Cars of the Israeli settlers were also exposed to the fire of the Palestinians in al-Khalil mountain near Shemaa settlement.

Four Palestinians including one child were hit by the bullets of the Israeli forces in al-Barazil district to the south of Gaza.

Palestinian medical sources said the Israeli army opened fire of its tanks at the Palestinians as they were leaving al-Nour mosque in Rafah and the wounded were admitted to hospital for treatment. An Israeli military spokesman announced the death of one of the wounded Israelis as a result of the suicide attacks on Tuesday at the settlement quarters of Nafe Yaqoub in Jerusalem and this resulted in wounding ten settlers, six of them are in critical health conditions. The Israeli radio said that the killed woman was an Israeli police woman and that many others are still under medical treatment.
