Baghdad renews call for lifting imposed sanctions
Iraq, Politics, 2/26/2002
Baghdad has renewed its call on the UN Security Council to lift the sanctions imposed on Iraq since more than 11 years, stressing that the UN special committee to eliminate mass destruction weapons in Iraq had completed all its works in all files since years.
In its Monday's issue, the Iraqi daily al-Thawra said that Iraq has implemented all its obligations relating to the mass annihilation weapons and called on the UN Security Council to recognize this fact which has become an international demand and to start lifting the siege imposed on Iraq.
Meantime, the UN announced on Monday that Annan will be meeting with the Iraqi foreign minister Naji Sabri al-Hadeithi in New York in order to maintain a new dialogue on March 7th in order to discuss the return back of the UN weapons inspectors to Iraq.
