Israeli mini cabinet permits Arafat only to move inside Ramullah
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 2/25/2002

The mini Israeli Cabinet for security and political affairs decided in its session held on Sunday to permit the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat to move inside Ramullah following the announcement of the Palestinian of the Palestinian security department of detaining on Friday the Palestinians who assassinated the Israeli tourism minister Rahbaam Zaefi.

The Israeli radio said that the council authorized the Israeli prime minister Yasser Arafat to consider permitting Arafat to leave Ramullah after consultations with his cabinet ministers.

For his part, the official responsible for the self-rule in the Palestinian Authority described the decision of the Israeli ministerial council as very shameful.

In an interview with the Israeli radio on Sunday Oreikat said that this decision indicates that the Israeli government has no political program, rather its program is to continue the war against the Palestinians and to destroy the negotiation process.

Meantime, a statement by the mini Israeli cabinet for security and political affairs on Sunday renewed its call on the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat to hand over those who are described of being involved in the process of assassinating the former israeli tourism minister Rahbaam Zaefi.
