Belgian and Moroccan regions envision twinning
Morocco-Belgium, Culture, 2/23/2002
The Brussels commune of Molenbeek-Saint Jean and the commune of Oujda-Sid Ziane (eastern Morocco) will sign next Wednesday a twinning act in the Belgian capital of Brussels.
The convention will be a tool to undertake exchanges between the two communes in cultural, educational, sports and tourism fields and promote individual and collective friendship.
The move was an initiative of a group of Brussels inhabitants, hailing from the region of Oujda, and who have set up an association called Oujda-Molenbeek.
On the fringes of the signing ceremony, several activities will be held, mainly a conference on "Oujda, a millenary city" and a lecture on the potentials and needs of the Moroccan eastern region.
