Renowned Syrian actor Dorade Lahham re-appointed UNICEF 's Goodwill Ambassador

Renowned Syrian actor Dorade Lahham on February 18 signed at the headquarters of UNICEF in Damascus a contract offered by the UN provided for a fixed date appointment as a "Goodwill Ambassador to MENA ( Middle East and North Africa) Region."
The signing ceremony was attended by UNICEF's head of office in Damascus Muhammad Bendreas al-Alami.
The appointment is for a fixed term of two years as from May 1, 2002 until the 30th day of April 2003.
Worthy mentioning that the mission of the " Goodwill ambassador" is to support the efforts made by UNICEF's offices in the Middle East and North Africa through giving backing and support to causes of children. This is manifested through field visits to the countries of MENA region and taking part in regional activities pertinent to children as well as rendering help in the process of producing media means and publications to promote and highlight Children rights and to raise funds for children.
Furthermore, the mission of the Goodwill Ambassador is voluntarily and the salary is just symbolic and is only USD 1 per annum.
The post of the "Goodwill ambassador has to be given to a popular figure both in his own country and abroad, alike."
