On Mubarak's visit to the US
Egypt-USA, Politics, 2/22/2002
Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Maher has stressed that the talks the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to hold during his next visit to the US by the beginning of March with the US President George Bush will deal with the deteriorated conditions in the Middle East region and the efforts made to revive the ME peace process.
Maher added in statements made on Wednesday in Cairo that Presidents Mubarak and Bush will also discuss the question of terrorism and means of fighting it in being a phenomenon threatening the security and safety of the international community as a whole, besides several regional and international issues, and Egyptian- American bilateral relations especially in the economic field.
Maher continued that the visit of President Mubarak to the US wins great importance especially as it comes at a time when the ME region is witnessing a notable deterioration and great tension as a result of the grave Israeli escalation against the Palestinian people.
The Egyptian foreign minister renewed his country's opposition to directing a military strike against Iraq or any other Arab state. He stressed care that the Iraqi people nor other Arab peoples will be vulnerable to sufferings.
