Morocco-UK, Politics, 2/21/2002

Moroccan foreign affairs and cooperation minister, Mohamed Benaissa, conferred in London on Thursday with Peter Hain, secretary of state at the British foreign office in charge of European affairs.

Talks dealt with bilateral relations, the situation in the Middle East, the British approach to the enlarging of the European Union and other international issues of common concern.

Benaissa met the same day at the House of Lords with Lord Levy, Blair's special envoy for the Middle East, with whom he surveyed the explosive situation in the occupied Arab territories.

The Moroccan foreign minister held on Thursday a work luncheon at the House of Commons with British MPs. Several British politicians and businessmen were present.

Benaissa equally lectured at the Royal International Affairs Institute on Morocco's foreign policy. The lecture was attended by international affairs experts and Arab world analysts.

Benaissa arrived Wednesday in London for talks with British officials including Peer, Jack Straw.
