Kuwaitis account for 40% of Kuwait's total population

Official statistics reported by the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA showed that the number of non-Kuwaitis living in Kuwait until June 30, 2001 was estimated at 1,38 million out of a total of 2,24 million.
The report released by Kuwait's planning ministry on Monday states that the number of Kuwaitis has reached 855,333 or 40% of the total population.
The annual report notes that the total number of Arab residents was estimated at 507,377 while the number of non-Arabs stood at 766,725 and the number of stateless people (Bidoune) was 113,645.
The Asian community, the largest one among foreigners, counts 746,092 persons, while Australians were the smallest community with 875.
The Kuwaiti work force was estimated at 238,220, including 153,150 males.
The non-Arab workforce was estimated at 673,730 and Arabs 287,833, the report said.
