Former chairman of Jordanian intelligence denies involvement in bank scandal

Former director of the Jordanian intelligence Lt. Gen. Samih al-Bateikhi has denied in statements issued on Tuesday any link to the case of "bank facilities" in which three Jordanian banks are involved with the "Global Business" company owned by Majd Sami al-Shameylah.
Meantime, the attorney general of the Jordanian state security court issued a decision to reserve transferred and non- transferred sums for ten persons involved in the said case, thereby number of companies and persons whose assets are frozen has reached 65.
Moreover the circle of investigations carried out by the Attroney General with persons involved in this case expanded to include 93 persons with the majority of them being prevented from leaving the country.
In a statement to the Qatari daily al-Sharq in Amman, al-Bateikhi said he does not practice trade and nobody has asked him to help al-Shameylah -- the main convict in this case.
Al-Bateikhi denied to be the person cited by some banks directors -- that they used to contact with the director of the intelligence concerning the bank loans al-Shameylah used to ask for.
