Saudi Arabia got no official request from Afghani governments on wanted persons
Saudi Arabia-Afghanistan, Politics, 2/20/2002

The Saudi minister of the interior prince Nayef Bin Abdul Aziz has renewed his assertion that the Saudi authorities until Monday afternoon did not get any official request from the Afghani government over handing over persons wanted in the case of killing the Afghani minister of civil aviation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Saudi daily al-Watan, prince Nayef said that names of the three persons who were reported as wanted are not in the list of the Afghani pilgrims who arrived in Saudi Arabia, unless they have entered Saudi Arabia under other names.

On the other hand, the chairman of the Saudi intelligence prince Nawaf Bin Abdul Aziz has stressed that the Saudi intelligence did not arrest any one and has nothing relating to the three wanted persons.

The assertions made by the Saudi officials came following statements made by Afghani officials in which they stressed that the Saudi authorities arrested two of the persons accused in this case.
