European agreement on an independent performance towards ME developments

A source at the European Commission has stressed that the countries of the European Union have agreed on the main headlines for the policy to be pursued in the Middle East.

The Monte Carlo radio correspondent who was following up the meetings of the EU foreign ministers held in Brussels, quoted the European sources as saying that the EU member states have agreed also to work for opening political prospects to solve the conflict in the region and not only to concentrate on the security aspects as Israel and the US do, besides not to ignore the economic and social conditions of the Palestinian people and to improve conditions to resume the Israeli- Palestinian negotiations.

The Radio correspondent indicated that the European ministers are trying to find out a reconciliatory formula between the taken stances and the proposals so as to come out with a united European position that can furnish for an independent and effective performance for the European diplomacy at the international level. He said that the European policy undergoes a difficult test to come out with such a position.
