Al-Assad starts visit to Italy
Syria-Italy, Politics, 2/19/2002

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his wife head today to Italy in an official three days visit at the invitation of the Italian President Calro Chambi. During this visit, the president will hold talks with high ranking Italian officials dealing with bilateral relations between Syria and Italy and regional and international conditions.

Al-Assad is accompanied in this visit by an official delegation including the deputy premier and foreign minister Farouk al-Shara, the minister of the economy and foreign trade Ghassan al-refai, the minister of tourism Saadallah Agha al-Qalaa, the minister of culture Najwa Qassab Hassan, the deputy foreign minister Seba Nasser, the advisor for the foreign minister Butheina Shabaan and the Syrian charge de affairs in Rome Mrs Nabila al-Shalaan.
