Saudi Arabia would oppose a US attack on Iraq
Saudi Arabia-USA, Politics, 2/16/2002

Saudi Arabia will oppose any U.S. military strike against Iraq as part of the war against terrorism. Saudi Arabia's interior minister Nayef bin Abdel Aziz Saturday said "the kingdom is against settling issues through war. He also says Saudi Arabia will not be in favor of any war against an Arab country," a Voice of America report said yesterday.

Also, Several European and Canada's officials have expressed great concern over any attack of Iraq, but the US has indicated that it is willing to act alone in this regard. US State Department Secretary Colin Powell said "Washington retains the right to unilateral action."

The VOA report quoted Germany's Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer as saying "no one has shown him any evidence yet that the terror campaign of Osama bin Laden has anything to do with the regime in Baghdad."

Meantime, Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit said Friday that any threat against Iraq couldn't be justified as Iraq does not pose a threat to anyone in the region.
