Powell vows to consult allies before striking Iraq
Iraq-USA, Politics, 2/16/2002

As US officials pursued anti-Iraq statements, American National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice said that President George Bush would be patient and cautious while dealing with the Iraqi file.

All alternatives to deal with North Korea are available as it sells long-range missiles, Rice said.

Rejecting to talk about alternatives towards Iraq, she alluded that the current consultations with the Security Council are designed to amend the sanctions imposed on Baghdad through the so-called "smart sanctions."

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Colin Powell said Washington would consult with its allies before taking any decision aimed at toppling the Iraqi regime.

All alternatives towards Iraq are available and Washington retains the right to unilateral action, Powell said in statements.
