Morocco participates in international fish fair in Germany

Morocco is taking part in the eighth edition of the "Fish International" fair held in Bremen, Germany.

Moroccan fisheries minister, Said Chba?tou, attended Thursday the dedication ceremony of this fair, held every other year.

Morocco's participation in Fish International 2002 provides opportunity to highlight the country's development potential and its openness onto the world, Chbaatou said at the ceremony. Morocco is a privileged fishing partner in the world, he said, underscoring the key part played by the sector in the social-economic development of the country.

Some 500 international fishery companies are participating in the fair where eyes are focused on the automation of fish canning.

The exhibition, launched in 1998, is expected to draw some 15,000 professional visitors from 70 countries, organizers say.
