One person accused of being a member in al- Qaida blew off himself in Sanaa
Yemen, Local, 2/15/2002

The Yemeni police said that one Yemeni suspected to belong to al-Qaida organization has detonated himself on Wednesday evening as the police forces were chasing him in Sanaa.

The Yemeni official news agency Sabaa quoted a spokesman for the police as saying that the man who is called Sameer Ahmad Muhammad al-Hada "tried to throw the bomb at the security men who were chasing him after he had fled from one house where he was hiding in Sanaa and the bomb exploded in him and he was killed as a result."

The spokesman who was not identified by the agency said that al-Hada "was one of the dangerous members wanted by the security forces for investigation with him under the charge of belonging to al-Qaida organization and of committing terrorist acts." The spokesman added that al-Hada "lived in Afghanistan and got training to commit terrorist acts there," noting that he was carrying false identities with the aim of misleading the security forces.
