Haider calls for lifting sanctions on Iraq

Former leader of the Austrian "Liberty" party Yorg Haider called on from Baghdad for lifting the sanctions imposed on Iraq since more than 11 years.

Haider who concluded his visit to Iraq on Wednesday said in a press statement issued in Baghdad on Thursday that he will pay other visits to Baghdad in order to attain civilizational rapprochement between Austria and Iraq.

He explained that the coming days "will witness great progress and confidential big strides to the friendly relations between the two countries towards lifting the sanctions and halting the continued aggression against the Iraqi people."

Haider indicated that his visit to Iraq aims at asserting the identical view points between the two countries in issues of concern to the two peoples and latest developments concerning regional and international conditions at the political and diplomatic levels.
