Libya transports some 44 Afghani Arabs into Tripoli

The chairman of the al-Qaddafi foundation for charity societies Seif al-Islam al-Qaddafi, son of the Libyan President Muammar al-Qaddafi has announced on Wednesday that Libya had sent a plane to Pakistan to transport a group of Afghani Arabs to it "for humanitarian reasons."

Seif al-Islam added that the plane headed on Tuesday to Pakistan. He added that this group includes " 44 members including one Jordanian family of six members and the rest are Libyans, many of them have wives from Pakistan and Afghanistan." He continued "it was decided that among this group will be two citizens. One from Iraq and the other from Saudi Arabia but the two men were received by their two countries."

He stressed that his "foundation" had made hard efforts for humanitarian reasons in order to transport those persons to Libya. He added after receiving necessary medical treatment, the Jordanian family can choose between staying in Libya or returning back home to Jordan."

He explained that the foundation has its own ways to release those prisoners and was obliged to pay money to ensure their release by the Afghani groups. He also explained that those "Afghani Arabs have been under the care of the foundation since three months in Pakistan with whom (Pakistan) we made "hard" negotiations to ensure their return back.

In November, 2001 Libyan President Muammar al-Qaddafi had proposed to hand over all Afghani Arabs to their respective governments.
