African intellectuals call for active backing to Palestinians
Palestine-Regional, Politics, 2/13/2002

African intellectuals, grouped in an African committee of support to the Palestinian people, on Tuesday called for an active support to the Palestinians against the Israeli arrogance.

The intellectuals, who met Tuesday in the Malian capital city of Bamako, urged for a final peace in the Palestinian territories.

The African intellectuals will convoke next July an international conference on Palestine, said Senegalese sociologist Malik Ndiaye, who added that the conference will be held in Dakar or in Bamako.

We have already urged the African leaders and the United Nations secretary general for a stronger involvement in the defence of the Palestinian people's interests, said Ndiaye.

The African committee of support to the Palestinian people was established last December.
