Qatar to host IAAF I Grand Prix meeting in May

Qatar will organize next May 15 the third meeting of the IAAF I Athletics Grand Prix, said Tuesday chairman of the Qatari federation, Colonel Dahlan Al-Ahmad.
Some ten contests for men and eight for women are scheduled, and the first three athletes in each competition will be awarded $50,000, $30,000 and $20,000 respectively.
Qatar had already hosted two meetings of the IAAF II Grand Prix in 1997 and 1998, a meeting of the IAAF I Grand Prix, in 1999 as well as an IAAF Grand Prix in October 2000.
Qatar has applied to host the Asian games of 2006.
