Clashes between Sudanese rebels, government forces
Sudan, Politics, 2/13/2002

Rebels of the People's Army For the Liberation of Sudan have announced the killing of five persons including one small girl and the wounding of other 6 in an attack launched by the Sudanese warplanes on the southern part of the country two days ago.

News reports quoted the rebel movement as saying in a statement issued in Nairobi that "Antonov" planes bombarded centers in Nimni and Koush in the Higher Nile province on Saturday and Sunday and this resulted in killing three men and one nurse.

The statement indicated that one of the four measures proposed by the US administration stated the need that the Sudanese rebel movement and the government have to honor not to bombard civilians.

The US had proposed measures of confidence after signing the cease- fire agreement in al-Nouba on January 19 between the People's Army For the Liberation of Sudan and Khartoum.
