France: Security in ME Peace Process should not be the first priority

A French Foreign Ministry spokesman said "there is a great deal of disagreement between France and the EU on one side and the US on the other side over the priorities of ME peace process."

He added that this discrepancy was mainly due to Europe's keenness on politicizing the security issue in the framework of the settlement process, while the US stood by the Israeli stance calling for giving security issue the highest priority.

"Israel is only concerned with the security side and this is a grave mistake," said the French spokesman, expressing his sorrow over the US bias stance to Israel. He added that "the EU, thereby, aims at bringing all sides to the negotiating table after, not before, declaring the Palestinian State."
