British paper discloses plans to strike Iraq
Iraq-USA, Politics, 2/12/2002
The British daily the Guardian said in its Monday's issue that the tour of the US Vice President Dick Cheney is to pave the way for a military strike against Iraq and is viewed as an introduction to an American attempt to topple the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein by military means.
The Guardian added that one of the proposed plans is to carry out air raids, hoped to be coupled by a rebellion inside the Iraqi army.
For its part the British daily the Times said that Russia is Iraq's first protector against any American attack after each of France and China have recently taken tough stances against Iraq for rejecting the UN inspection team for weapons of mass destruction to enter into Iraq.
