Sheikh Zayed confers with Karazai
United Arab Emirates-Afghanistan, Politics, 2/12/2002

President of the United Arab Emirates UAE Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan al-Nahyan on Monday discussed with President of the provisional Afghani government Hamid Karazai, currently visiting the UAE during their Monday's meeting in Abu Dhabi the developments in Afghanistan and the efforts exerted to achieve security and stability in this country.

In statements he made in Abu Dhabi on Monday, Karazai stressed his desire to develop his country's historical relations with the Arab states.

Karazai called on the United Arab Emirates to contribute into rebuilding Afghanistan and supporting the process of re- forming the Afghani army in order to achieve security and stability in that country.

On the sideline of his visit to the UAE, Karazai hoisted Afghanistan's flag over the Afghani embassy to the UAE, marking its re-inauguration.
