Egypt's Exports to UK increase by 33%

Trade exchange between Egypt and UK amounted to almost $ one billion during the period January-October, 2001.Of this sum Egypt's exports hit $503 million vis-a-vis $ 531 million for imports which decreased by 8.6% compared to the last year .
During this period, Egyptian non-petroleum exports reached $ 453.5 million, thereby increasing by 33% more than the year 2000.
Among the sectors that achieved remarkable boom was agricultural crops and food stuffs whose exports were up by 36%, hitting $ 31 million compared to $ 23 million last year; raw materials exports, especially textile fibers, rose by 120%; chemicals mounted to $ 20 million compared to $ 15 million in the year 2000; minerals increased from $680,000 to $ 3 million ; ready-made clothes hit $ 98 million; and furniture exports amounted to about $ one million.
