Foreign students evacuated from Yemen

An official at the Yemeni ministry of the interior said on Sunday that among students the Yemeni authorities intend to evacuate are six Americans, 6 Britons, 7 French and several Pakistani and Somalis and others from various nationalities.
News reports said the Yemeni Authorities started last Saturday practically an expulsion process of 101 students of the persons arrested since December 2001, by evacuating 4 Britons in the framework of measures carried out to chase persons suspected to belong to al-Qaida organization.
On the other hand, a Yemeni security source said that the Yemeni ministry of the interior released 43 students from the Yemeni students following intensive contacts between the Yemeni and the Indonesian authorities.
These Indonesians were arrested in Mareb province to the east of Sanaa under the charge of illegal stay in the country.
