New oil leakage at the Kuwaiti al-Shueiba oil refinery
Kuwait, Economics, 2/11/2002
A new oil leakage in the Kuwaiti national oil company on Friday resulted in halting work in al-Shueiba refinery for ten days and this measure aims at avoiding further problems.
The director of the refinery Hussein Ismael told the Kuwaiti daily al-Qabas issued on Saturday that the officials at the refinery asked the oil company to reduce the refined amounts of oil from 200,000 to 120,000 barrels daily and that it was agreed to stop work in most parts of the refinery for ten days in order to maintain it completely.
Ismael indicated that suspending works at the refinery will not affect the local market consumption because al-Ahmadi refinery will meet most of the requirements of the local market, besides the so far available strategic storage of the national oil company will meet consumption for the two or three months to come.
