Maher: Condition in the ME is very grave
Egypt-Regional, Politics, 2/11/2002
The Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Maher has stressed that the situation is grave in the region and work should be made to establish just and comprehensive peace in order to guarantee its security and stability.
In a statement to the London- based al-Sharq al-Awsat issued on Saturday, Maher said that without maintaining understanding with the Palestinians there will be no hope to achieve security. He indicated Arab and European efforts that are being made to clarify facts for the US, noting that the Israeli stances obstruct peace.
Maher sharply rejected what has been stated that the US is planning a strike to Iraq and called for lifting the sufferings imposed on the Iraqi people.
