King Mohammed wants exemplary partnership with China
Morocco-China, Politics, 2/9/2002
Morocco's King Mohammed VI wants to establish an exemplary partnership between Morocco and China, Moroccan foreign affairs and cooperation minister, Mohamed Benaissa, said Saturday.
Benaissa told the press that King Mohammed lauded the development level reached by China and noted that the Asian country achieved an enormous progress since he last visited it 11 years when he was Crown Prince.
Such progress confirms the role that China plays in Asia and in the world at large, Benaissa said, adding that King Mohammed VI also voiced admiration for the dynamism in China.
The king's visit to China helped promote a better understanding between the leaders of the two countries through the talks King Mohammed VI held with President Jiang Zemin and with other officials of the Chinese government and parliament, the minister said.
The visit also favoured understanding and partnership between the two countries at the level of governments and of the private sector, said Benaissa, recalling the conclusion of eight bilateral cooperation accords and a memorandum of understanding in matters of investments.
