Lahoud accuses Israel of distorting Lebanon's stances

The Lebanese President Emil Lahoud has warned that the absence of stability in any country in the world would create terrorism. He questioned what sort of option the greater states should support, especially the U.S. "Is it stability or disorder?"
In statements he made in Beirut on Friday, the Lebanese President stressed that the Lebanese could, when they were united, liberate the greater part of their occupied lands and made of Lebanon a remarkable position on the regional and international arena.
Lahoud added that this matter annoyed Israel which tries to distort the image of Lebanon abroad and to place pressure on it, noting that such Israeli attempts doomed to failure in the past.
Meantime, the Lebanese president on Friday met with EU trade Commissioner Pascal Lamy and discussions dealt with ME peace process developments and the policy pursued by the EU towards the situation in the region.
The Lebanese President stressed the need of an effective European role in the ME peace process. He stressed Lebanon's commitment to collaborate with the EU in the projects it launches especially in the area of the Euro-Med. Partnership.
Lamy for his part stressed during the meeting which was attended by the EU ambassador in Lebanon Patrick Reno, the EU continued support to efforts to dealing with the economic conditions in the region. He expressed the readiness of the EU to cooperate with Lebanon in the economic field and to ensure technical assistance for that purpose.
Lamy also met with the Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri and reviewed with him relations between Lebanon and the European Union and Lebanon's recent membership to the Euro-Mediterranean Association Agreement.
