The US will not permit a new policy in north Iraq
Iraq-USA, Politics, 2/7/2002

The US ambassador in Ankara Robert Person said that the Washington's administration will not permit the formation of a new policy in north Iraq because they contradict with the American interests, besides that the neighboring states will not agree on it also.

In a seminar held by Strategic research center at the Turkish foreign ministry, the US ambassador said that view points between Turkey and the US are close towards the need to supervising any mass annihilation weapons in Iraq as well as the care of the two sides to maintain the unity and sovereignty of the Iraqi territories.

On the other hand, all Turkish papers issued on Wednesday said that the warning messages recently addressed by the Turkish prime minister Polent Acawit to the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has pushed the latter to take flexible steps to start the dialogue with the UN.
