EU welcomes cease fire between the Sudanese government, rebel movement

The European Union has welcomed the cease- fire agreement between the Sudanese government and the rebel movement which was signed in Switzerland in January, which is dedicated to al-Nouba mountain district to the south of Kurdovan, central west of Sudan.
In a statement, released by the German embassy in Khartoum, the EU called on the two sides to implement items of this agreement especially article pertaining to forming an international observatory team.
The statement considered the agreement an important step in the way of achieving a comprehensive settlement and halting the civil war in Sudan. The statement explained that the European Union encourages taking similar steps in other parts of the country.
The statement stressed following up closely conditions in al-Nouba mountain and announced EU's readiness to take any measures that will help supporting the positive efforts to end the civil war in Sudan.
