Italian- Kuwaiti friendship association for solving the Kuwaiti prisoners question in Iraq

The Italian- Kuwaiti friendship society has called on the Italian government to interfere with the Iraqi government and to debate a new initiative to solve the question of the Kuwaiti prisoners held in Iraq.

In a message addressed to the Italian prime minister Selvio Berlskoni, the association said that there are still 600 Kuwaiti prisoners held in Iraq since 11 years and freeing them or at least getting authentic news about their situation will be of great humanitarian impact and will contribute to healing one of the "wounds which are still open" after the liberation of Kuwait.

The message added this will also contribute to alleviating the rate of tension in the region which needs to peace initiatives.
