The Seven Secrets Of Alexandria Library
Egypt, Local, 2/5/2002
Shortly, in Paris, an interesting book written by Ahmed Youssef, will be issued entitled 'The Seven Secrets of Alexandria Library'. The book has a preface introduced by Jacques Ateli, who had once been the political advisor to the late French President Francios Mitterand and is one of the most significant members of the Sponsor Council of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
Those seven secrets of the ancient world-noted library constitute the magic characters figured in the fable related to that library. One of them was Demitrios Alphaliri, Athens Governor, who had established the library and was its first manager.
The book contains - inter alia - some chapters on the Caesar of Rome, the story of setting the library on fire as well as a chapter on Napoleon Bonaparte and the invasion of the city-port of Alexandria. Another chapter is dedicated to the developments Alexandria witnessed in the modern age after being termed as 'cosmopolitan' due to co-existence of various cultures and races there.
One chapter deals with the role played by Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak till the library came back once again into existence. Such role is well acknowledged by Egyptians, French and UNESCO officials.
The book tackled, in some other chapters, the achievements made by the Arab translator, Ishaq Bin Henin, thanks to whom the Greek heritage was translated into Arabic.
