Morocco, China sign five cooperation agreements

Morocco's King Mohammed VI, who is paying this Feb.5-7 a state visit to China and Chinese president, Jiang Zemin, chaired in Peking this Tuesday the signing ceremony of five new cooperation covenants between the two countries.
The two countries exchanged letters on economic and technical cooperation and signed an agreement on economic and technical cooperation, a protocol of agreement on social development, employment and vocational training and two other cooperation agreements dealing with environment and health.
Two other agreements on tourism and audio-visual and another one between the Moroccan Maghreb Arab Press agency and China's Xinhua news agency will be concluded on Wednesday.
The new implements come to consolidate the legal framework regulating the two countries' bilateral cooperation which date back to 1957, in the wake of Morocco's independence. Since 1990, the two countries have signed 40 agreements in various fields.
Earlier, Morocco's King Mohammed VI was welcomed at an official ceremony Tuesday afternoon at the People's Great Palace in Peking, before he held a first round of talks with President Jiang Zemin of China. The sovereign was welcomed upon arrival in the People's Great Palace by President Jiang Zemin of China.
