Syrian industry minister arrives in Baghdad

The Syrian minister of industry Issam al-Zaem arrived in Baghdad on Monday heading a high ranking Syrian industrial delegation to hold talks on industrial cooperation between the two states.

In an arrival statement to the press, the Syrian minister said:" we have come in the context of a positive attempt that would strengthen relations between our two countries towards industrial and economic integration. A matter which is very important for our future."

He added that his talks with the Iraqi side will "be on joint investment and bilateral relations for common interests." Al-Zaem explained that he basically came in order to discuss trade exchange and reactivating industrial cooperation. between the two states.

For his part, the Iraqi minister of industry and minerals Muyassar Raja Shallah stressed that this visit is to complete the discussions and agreements reached by the joint higher committee which was held in Baghdad in August 2001.
