Greek president concludes a three-day visit to Damascus

President of the Republic of Greece left Damascus on Monday following an official three-day visit to Syria.
He was seen off by President Bashar al-Assad, the deputy premier and foreign minister Farouk al-Shara, the ministers of transport and tourism, the Syrian charge De affairs in Athens and the Greek ambassador in Damascus.
Upon leaving Damascus the Greek President extended a cable of greetings to President al-Assad. It said: while leaving the Syrian Arab republic I would like to express to your excellency my happiness over the warm welcome and hospitality I received during my visit to tour country.
Earlier in the day, the Greek President and his companions visited the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra and were welcomed there by its governor and officials concerned. The visiting President toured the various departments of the ancient city, the straight street, the theatre and arch of triumph and also Palmyra's museum and listened to explanations on the ancient's city importance as a cross-road on the silk route.
