Saudi Arabia to work with US against Iraqi president
Saudi Arabia-USA, Politics, 2/5/2002

Former chairman of the Saudi intelligence prince Turkey al-Faisal said that Saudi Arabia will work closely with the US if it will try to start a revolution against the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein inside Iraq.

News reports said that Prince Turkey in an interview with the US TV NBC expressed his conviction is that the beginning of the road is from inside Iraq and the US can help in that as Saudi Arabia will work with it closely to this effect.

Prince Turkey warned Washington against launching a new attack similar to that of the Gulf war against Baghdad because this will lead to a regret, fear and anger not only from the side of the US, rather such a new attack might succeed in mobilizing the Iraqi people behind Saddam Hussein because they ( the Iraqis ) consider the Americans as foreign invaders and proposed that Iraqis themselves would topple their president.

Concerning accusations that there are Saudi charity societies that transferred sums to al-Qaida organization led by Osama Bin laden, Prince Turkey said that these societies did not intend ultimately to feed terrorism.

It is not clear if the former Saudi official's statements represents official Saudi views. However last week, Prince Nawwaf bin Abdul Aziz, the kingdom's director of the intelligence service said Saudi Arabia would not support an American military campaign against Iraq. Worthy mentioning that Prince Turkey is one of several Saudi present and former officials who made statements recently to the American mass media in an attempt to challenge the wave of negative reports concerning what the Americans view as insufficient Saudi cooperation with the US following the attacks of September 11.
