King Mohammed confers with Saudi leaders, performs oumra

Morocco's King Mohammed VI, who paid a visit of brotherhood and friendship to Saudi Arabia Saturday and Sunday, held Saturday evening talks with King Fahd Ibn Abdelaziz of Saudi Arabia and with Saudi heir apparent, vice president of the ministers council and head of the Saudi national guard, Prince Abdellah ibn Abdelaziz.

According to the Saudi news agency SPA talks covered the latest developments on the Arab, Islamic and international scene with focus on the Palestinian cause and the sufferings endured by the Palestinian people because of the Israeli practices.

Other press reports said the two sides discussed the results of the latest session of the Al-Quds committee held on January 25 in Marrakesh, under the chairmanship of King Mohammed VI, and renewed pledge to carry on backing to the Palestinian people for the recovery of their legitimate rights, in line with international legality and in a bid to establish a fair and comprehensive peace in the region.

Preparations for the Arab summit scheduled to be held in Lebanon next March and the need to cement Arab ranks to take up the challenges facing the Arab nation were also brought up and the Moroccan-Saudi summit talks.

Talks equally dealt with means of promoting cooperation between the two states, especially in the economic realm.

King Mohammed who was guest Saturday evening to a dinner hosted in his honor by King Fahd, held another meeting later in the evening with Saudi heir apparent Prince Abdellah.

On Sunday, King Mohammed VI attended a luncheon offered in his honor by the Saudi heir apparent and performed in the evening the Oumra, minor pilgrimage.

Before flying to Jeddah Sunday evening, King Mohammed VI visited Al-Adhiria estate, at the invitation of minister of state, member of the ministers' council and head of the office of the council's presidency, Prince Abdelaziz Ibn Fahd Ibn Abdelaziz. The sovereign attended there Saudi folk arts performances as well as shows by Arab stallions and camels before he toured the farm where a collection of Saudi national heritage, a collection of archeology pieces and various Saudi handicraft items are displayed.

Prince Abdelaziz Ibn Fahd Ibn Abdelaziz on the occasion offered the sovereign four Arab stallions and other presents.

The sovereign left Jeddah this Monday morning heading for China where he is to pay an official visit February 5-7.

The sovereign is accompanied by a large delegation.
