Adly warns against new terrorist incidents

Egyptian Interior Minister Habib Al Adly warned of possible terrorist operations as a result of miscalculated reactions to some incidents, adding that such reactions could lead to more dangerous terrorist crimes than the September 11 attacks in the United States.

He stressed the importance of activating the mechanisms of combating terrorism, to render them speedier and stronger.

Adly said that terrorist crimes and the means to carry them out are numerous due to the world openness, pointing out to some persons who, due to feelings of persecution, could turn into terrorists.

During a meeting with an Egyptian media delegation, currently visiting Beirut, Adly said that Arab Interior Ministers, who concluded their meeting in Beirut recently, had dealt with all issues, including the blockade on the Palestinian people.

Adly led the Egyptian delegation to meetings of the Arab Interior Ministers.

Adly said that Egypt was the first to warn of terrorism, pointing out to President Hosni Mubarak's statements in which he called for fighting terrorism.

He described Beirut conference as successful, where the Arab Interior Ministers stressed the importance of President Mubarak's call for holding an anti-terror conference under the auspices of the United Nations.

On Egyptian-American security cooperation , Adly said that there is an important coordination between Cairo and Washington in the field of exchanging information and following up conditions of Egyptians in the United States.

He stressed the importance of protecting the rights of Egyptians and providing Egypt with all information about them, pointing out that there was no new information about the release of Egyptians detained in the United States after the September 11 incidents.

On The Egyptian-Arab security cooperation, the Minister said he held consultations and meetings with his Arab counterparts during Beirut summit.

He said that most countries were combating terrorism and that there was a draft law on the extradition of criminals and wanted persons.

He said that martial low was applied against money speculators who attempted to make gains at the account of the Egypt's interests.

He said that the United States has not managed to apprehend Osama Bin Laden and his assistant Ayman Al Zawahry who are believed to had fled together with their supporters during the air bombardment of Afghanistan.
