Algerian athlete hospitalized in Rabat after road accident

Algerian athlete, Laid Bassou, who was victim of a road accident in Ifrane, a mountain resort where he was undertaking his training, was transferred to the extensive care unit of the Rabat Ibn Sina hospital.
Bassou's coach, Ammar Brahmia, told MAP the accident happened when Bassou, Algeria's champion in the 3,000 m steeplechase and holder of the bronze medal of last September's Mediterranean games in Tunis, tried to avoid a car coming in the other way. His car left the road.
Bassou, 26, suffers from traumatism in his back and neck and internal hemorrhage in the lungs.
