Mubarak endorses cooperation agreement with Jordan
Egypt-Jordan, Economics, 1/31/2002
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak ratified a cooperation agreement between Egypt and Jordan in the field of specifications and quality activities, according to Minister of Industry and Technological Development Ali El-Saedy.
El-Saedy said the agreement charges that the Egyptian Standardization and Measurements Agency and its Jordanian counterpart are the authorities commissioned to represent their respective countries.
"The agreement endorses the measurements and qualities adopted by the two countries," said El-Saedy.
"Under the said agreement, the two countries will have to unify the quality and standards of the commodities they trade," he added.
It also stipulates unification of the lexicon and trade jargon and the measurements and terminology used in the two countries.
"An ad hoc committee has been formed from the two sides to meet regularly in tandem in Cairo and Amman and follow up to the implementation of the agreement," said the Minister.
