New Palestinian operation targeting Shein Beit

Amid a general strike in the occupied Palestinian territories in protest of the continued Israeli acts, the Israeli tanks and patrols mopped up several Palestinian areas and launched several detention operations especially in Rafah district.

The Palestinians retaliated by more attacks using stones, and explosives at the Israeli positions and camps.

The strongest among these was a suicide attack carried out by the Palestinian youth Murad Abu Asaal to the north of Tel Aviv. He detonated himself near a truck carrying employees for the Israeli internal security ( Shein Beit) near al-Tibeh bridge and this resulted in strongly wounding two Israeli army officers.

News reports said that the Israeli forces immediately started detention campaigns in the villages of Abu Deis, Zaatara and Ourta in Nablus and al-Quds and in Shweikah village of Toulkarem and the villages surrounding Ramullah and Qalqilya. The reports stressed that the Israeli campaign included tens of Palestinians under the charges of being members in the Hamas and the Jihad movements.

Meantime, the Israeli daily Yadhout Ahronot said that 100 Israeli army soldiers and officers of the reserve forces in the Israeli army signed a petition in which they announced their refusal to perform service in the West Bank and Gaza.

In their petition, those Israeli army soldiers and officers said:" we army soldiers and officers have served for long weeks every year, despite the heavy personal price and we served in all ( Palestinian ) areas and got instructions that have no relevance to security."

They added we, who today realize that the price of occupation is the loss of the humanitarian aspect of the Israeli army and corruption for the Israeli society as a whole, thereby we announce we will not take part in this war and will not continue the fighting before the green line with the aim of controlling, expelling, demolishing, liquidation, insulting for a complete ( community ), in remarks to the Palestinians.

Persons who undersigned the petition announced their continued service but abstained from any missions including occupation and repression.
