Ismael: we support the Libyan- Egyptian initiative
Sudan, Politics, 1/31/2002

The Sudanese foreign minister Mustafa Othman Ismael has stressed after his participation in the meetings on the mechanism of settling inter- African disputes that the joint Egyptian- Libyan initiative to settle the political issue in Sudan has found a unanimous position among the political forces in Sudan in the north and the south.

The Sudanese minister also stressed that this initiative found great positive response in the Sudanese street and has encouraged several Sudanese political leaderships from the south and the north to return back to Sudan, besides reforming Sudan's relations with several neighboring states including Eritrea and Uganda.

Ismael continued that this initiative has been now debated with other initiatives, but the Sudanese government sees that the Egyptian- Libyan initiative is the first among others which won unanimous support of all political forces.
