Pentagon seeks Sinai cuts

"The Pentagon has proposed the withdrawal of nearly all American troops serving as a buffer between Israeli and Egyptian forces in the Sinai Peninsula, but the White House is resisting the plan, fearing this would signal U.S. disengagement from the Middle East at an especially volatile time," The Washington Post reported today.
