Arab Interior Ministers conference in Beirut on combatting terrorism

Egyptian Interior Minister Habib Al Adly reiterated President Hosni Mubarak's call for the importance of holding an international conference to combat terrorism under the auspices of the United Nations.
Addressing the Arab Interior Ministers conference in Beirut yesterday , Adly called for containing the crises that help spread terrorism all over the world.
Syrian Interior Minister Ali Hammoud said Syria and a number of Arab countries had been victims to terrorism.
Addressing the Arab Interior Ministers' closed session Tuesday, the Syrian Minister said Syria has been calling on the international community to condemn all forms of terrorism, especially the State terrorism being practised by the Israeli occupation in the Arab territories.
He voiced astonishment over labelling some Palestinian organizations in Syria as "terrorist" and accusing Syria of harboring terrorism while ignoring Israel's responsibility over the displacement of Palestinians.
Syria has condemned the September 11 attacks and called for world cooperation in combating terrorism under the umbrella of the UN, he said.
Hammoud called for the activation of pan-Arab solidarity in the face of the Zionist anti-Arabs and anti-Muslims campaign.
On his part, Yemeni Interior Minister Maj. Gen. Rashad Mohammad Eleimy called for differentiating between terrorism and the right to resist foreign occupation.
Yemen has been keen on clarifying its stance over terrorism and boosting regional and international cooperation in this domain as it signed eight international agreements on combating terrorism, the Yemeni Minister said.
Sudanese Interior Minister Abdel Rahim Mohammad Hussein highlighted the importance of pan-Arab action in facing organized crime and sabotage that threaten Arab infrastructure.
He urged demarcation between terrorism and the peoples' struggles against occupation and repression via holding an international anti-terrorism conference that would define terrorism and means to combat it.
Tunisian Interior Minister Abdullah Al-Kaaby condemned all forms of terrorism and said his country has firmly stood in the face of terrorism and managed to eliminate it.
Tunisia is convinced that combating terrorism cannot be exclusive to the security domain but rather requires cooperation between various political, economic, social, cultural and educational factors, the Tunisian Minister said.
Kuwaiti Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid Al Sabbah called on all Arab countries to join efforts for combating terrorism. He also stressed the need to differentiate between terrorism and the peoples' right to self-determination and resisting occupation.
Iraqi Minister of Interior accused the US of sponsoring international terrorism and protecting the terrorism hub in the Middle East, namely the "Zionist Entity." Iraq condemns terrorism and Arab countries, including Iraq, have been victims of Zionist terrorism and the Powers supporting it, he added.
Palestinian Justice Minister Freih Abu Madian called on Arab leaders and peoples to back the Palestinian people who defend Muslim and Christian holy sites. He underlined that the Palestinian people's strategic target is just and comprehensive peace as it is the only way for security and stability for the whole region.
