US organizations call for lifting Iraqi embargo
Iraq-USA, Politics, 1/29/2002
"Head of Voices in the Wilderness Organization Kathy Kelly said that what happened in New York and Washington on 11 September 2001 made the Americans feel Iraqis' suffering due to the unjust embargo which the US administration insists on prolonging it. She called for lifting this embargo which caused the death of hundreds of Iraqis due to lack of food and medicine", INA repoted.
The report said "Head of the American Organization of students for International Peace and Justice Nadiya Ahmed described the embargo as a genocide against an entire population. She brought to the mind victims of el-Amiriya shelter which was bombed in 1991 aggression, killing more than thousand Iraqi civilians, including children and the elderly. She referred to the spread of diseases due to the use of depleted Uranium during 1991 aggression on Iraq. She pointed out that the 661 Sanctions Committee suspends humanitarian contracts, which Iraq had signed to provide food and medicine."
On the sidelines of the seminar held by International Action Organization, a fair was organized for showing pictures and portraits depicting Iraqi people's, especially children, suffering because of the embargo.
