Labor Party member asks to benifit from Egyptian diplomacy
Israel-Egypt, Politics, 1/29/2002

Member of Israeli Knesset from the Labor Party Nawaf Mosalhah expressed hope that Israeli leaders would benefit from experience of President Hosni Mubarak and Egyptian diplomacy.

In an interview Monday with Cairo radio, Mosalhah accentuated importance of President Mubarak's role in the peace march as Egypt is a pivotal state in the Middle East and without this role stability could not be achieved.

On the current position in the Israeli street, He pointed out that any explosion inside Israel especially against civilians strengthened the Israeli extremist right and enhanced Sharon's government.

There is a danger on the Palestinian authority's entity, he said, noting that whatever the circumstances are negotiations between the two sides should be resumed.

On possible withdrawal from the government by the labor party, he made it clear that this will not happen as the majority wanted to remain in the government because they consider Israel still in a state of war.

On Israeli Defence Minister Benjamin Ben Eliezer's stance inside the party, Mosalhah said he wants to leave but not before six or seven months at least.

Finding a solution to the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis is the only way for realizing genuine peace, he added.
